Excelsior Designs and Casa Novalia Offer New Looks in Casegoods

April 2005, High Point, N.C

Excelsior Designs, and its lifestyle division Casa Novalia, both well-known for striking, artistic interpretations of contemporary designs in furniture, bring new looks for the bedroom, dining room, living room and home office to the April 2005 International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C.

Madera is an inherently exciting, modern bedroom collection which is centered on a striking low-profile bed. The bed starts with a sweeping horizontal wall panel finished in a soft camel colored matte lacquer to which a softly backlit headboard and nightstands, all crafted in Palisander, are attached. The subtle matte finish of the wall unit not only serves as a perfect base and backdrop for this impressive bed, it also enables the glossy Palisander veneers to seemingly pop. An armoire with full length doors features a beautiful “v” pattern in the Palisander veneers. Behind the doors one finds a hallmark of Excelsior Designs bedrooms, the glass front drawers which so many customers appreciate not only for their beauty but also their functionality. The minimalist hardware is a satin finished stainless steel and has the look of door handles found on an architecturally sleek, modern building. Because of the attention to detail and low-profile nature of the Madera collection, the pieces themselves seemingly float on air.

A more classic expression is found in the Salerno bedroom collection. Waterfall silhouettes, like those on the head and foot of the modified sleigh bed, create a movement within the collection. Excelsior Designs has married the more traditional sleigh bed design with an ultimately contemporary appeal for a look that is sure to be a best-seller. Salerno is exceptional, not only for it’s styling, but also because for the first time Excelsior Designs has employed Zebrano, or Zebra wood, in the construction of this collection. The veneer has an extraordinary pattern and this is further highlighted by the warm brown finish. Salerno’s hardware is stain-finished stainless steel in a smooth, demilune shape.

Casa Novalia, a division of Excelsior Designs, rounds out an existing collection with the addition of the Positano dining room. The group includes a rectangular and square dining table as well as a buffet and hutch. The rectangular dining table extends with two leaves offering seating for up to 10. The square dining table is coming back into vogue as more and more consumers entertain at home. The shape brings everyone closer together, making a more intimate, inviting environment, while providing seating for up to 8. This table top and table base is accentuated with concave, clipped corners each capped with polished stainless steel, giving it a little something extra. Positano has three recommended dining chairs, although as with any Excelsior Designs or Casa Novalia collections, you can choose any chair in the line and have it custom finished in any of the many finishes and fabrics in the Select Seating program.

Form and function long have been the basis and even hallmark of contemporary design, and no where is this exemplified more than in Excelsior Designs’ Ceriana home office collection. Designed and scaled for use by those who truly work at home, Ceriana also is appropriate for executive offices as well. Ceriana also includes bedroom, dining room, occasional and entertainment selections.
